Trip to NYC: Garden Club of America headquarters and Little Island

Lupi Robinson and Carol Warner have organized a trip to New York City on Thursday, May 8th to have a tour of and box lunch at the Garden Club of America headquarters on East 60th Street followed by a visit to Little Island Park.   Available provisionals from last year and this year will be attending and we have opened the trip up to all members as well, with a limit of 20 attendees.  We plan to take a train to the City (the 8:47 from Union Station or 8:51 am from West Haven) and will either walk or share cabs to GCA headquarters.  We will be met by a member of GCA’s Hospitality Committee who will give us a tour of the headquarters as well as a history of the Garden Club of America.  This will be followed by a box lunch meal at GCA.   After lunch, we will share cabs to Little Island to walk around this wonderful two acre park which we learned about from its landscape architect, Signe Nielsen, at our March monthly meeting.   For hardy souls, we will then walk along the High Line to 34th Street to take the subway back to Grand Central or attendees can take taxis from Little Island to Grand Central for the train back to West Haven or New Haven.

Attendees will be responsible for the cost of their train trip, the cost of their box lunch ($25-$30) and their portion of any shared cab rides.

Please let Carol Warner  (cwarner27@gmail.com) know if you are interested in attending this fun New York visit.
