The Civic Committee oversees ongoing GCNH civic commitments that support the New Haven community, including maintenance of Phelps Triangle Park and its nearby bioswale, Holiday Workshop, New Haven Elms, and any Federated or GCA civic initiative undertaken by the club, such as Partners 4 Plants. The Civic Committee interacts with New Member Education to establish a Provisional Member Community Project. The Civic Committee works with the Conservation Committee to establish ongoing community-focused projects; communicates with the Chair of Scholarship to identify candidates for the Florence Bradley Award; and presents those candidates at a Spring General Meeting for a vote by the membership. The Chair is also a member of the Finance Committee.

Project Trees (established 1986):
Carol Ross (member at large) – responsible for tracking the annual maintenance  contribution and interacting with the Proprietors of the New Haven Green.

Florence Bradley Award:
– Responsibility of Civic/Projects Chair
– The other community awards including the Henry and Nancy Bartels Award and GCNH Scholarship must coordinate with the Civic/Projects Chair in review and selection of award candidates.

Partners for Plants:
-Responsibility of Conservation Chair

These projects are partnerships with community organizations and operate under a GCA grant.  Conservation reports into the Civic Chair on major decisions.
