Fund for the Future Scholarship Application

HRooted in its past service to the Greater New Haven community and guided by the promise of its future civic stewardship, the Garden Club of New Haven established the Fund for the Future to support students and community focused initiative.

Managed by the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, the Fund for the Future provides scholarships for graduate and undergraduate students attending educational institutions in Connecticut, with preference given to students whose research or civic work focuses on the greater New haven area. The Fund may also support special community projects that align with the Club’s purpose and goals.

Eligibility
Applicants may be college undergraduates, graduate students, advanced degree candidates, or non-degree seeking applicants above the high school level. Eligibility is open to U.S. Citizens and permanent residents who are enrolled in a U.S. based institution.

The award will range from $3,000 to $7,500; the number and amount will vary per year. The scholarship will support a summer internship in research, practical learning or civic work. Preference will be given to a student whose project focuses primarily on the Greater New Haven community relating to horticulture, ecology, forestry, conservation, environmental sciences, climate change and related topics.

The report must include a description of the project activities, results, and recommendations. A brief presentation to the GCNH membership will be scheduled at a mutually convenient time.
